Attractions Outline

On the banks of the Yass River, Cooma Cottage is in the heart of the rich sheep grazing country which attracted pioneers in the early 1820s and 1830s. The original colonial bungalow, built by pioneering pastoralist Henry O’Brien for his younger brother Cornelius, forms part of the complex of dwellings and stables built later by the great Australian explorer Hamilton Hume. The property is preserved as Hume’s home, where he lived for 33 years until his death in 1873.
